Quirky Momma Designs
I enjoy crafting, sewing, creating, fashion, makeup and making things look pretty and if I can save money in the process! Well now you're talking!

Walk it out
I love, love cloth baby shoes. I think it's a great way to protect your little darling's feet. I found a great blog that has easy down-loadable directions and a free pattern. http://stardustshoes.blogspot.com/2006/10/cloth-shoe-pattern.html

Let it begin!
This was my first ever sewing project since being all grown up and using my own sewing machine. Well technically I did sew some small curtains for our other house...but we won't talk about that! It's sufficed to say it involved a lot of frustration and quite a bit of seem ripping. Any-who, I was planning on sewing some for my husbands cousin who is having a baby so I should be able to demonstrate how I made them for you all soon.
They are made from flannel and have a terry cloth (towel fabric) backing. The edges are finished with binding because I think it gives it a clean look. When I first made them I was afraid the binding made them a little stiff but after one wash they were perfect! Now these are my favorite burps rags and I use them all the time.

All things have a beginning...
Many people don't have the luxury of learning to sew at a young age, thankfully I did. My mother is an amazing seamstress and in addition to that can also make her own patterns for practically any and every thing. Wait there's more! Not only can she make her own patterns but she is also gifted with great creativity. Designing outfits, painting, decorating, (I even remember her designing and building her own bookcase once) yep she does it all!
I would love to say I payed a lot of attention when she was teaching me as a child and because of that I now posses great talent when it comes to sewing and pattern making; sadly no. Growing up I saw sewing as a chore and dreaded the yearly summer project she "forced" us to do. Thanks to my mother I can sew but my skill is not anywhere near my mother's or where I would like it to be.
There is one thing I have retained though and that is the knowledge that it is possible to make just about anything you can dream up. With that realization, coupled with determination (not to mention my mom on speed-dial) nothing is impossible...well almost nothing.
I hope to put a few tutorials up here at some point. I do not by any means claim to be an expert pattern maker, seamstress or designer. I'm saying this because I might not do things the "proper" way. If you know the "proper" way or a better way to do something please feel free to tell me.
I hope you enjoy my projects and hopefully one or two of them will inspire a project of your own.
